Middle School Art

Primary Purpose:

New Diana Middle School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered Middle School Art Teacher to inspire students in grades 6?8 through engaging visual arts instruction. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while building a positive classroom culture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging art lessons aligned with state and district standards
  • Teach a variety of media and techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art
  • Encourage creativity, self-expression, and appreciation of art history and diverse cultures
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
  • Prepare student artwork for displays, exhibitions, and school events
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success
  • Manage classroom supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field
  • Valid teaching certification/licensure in Texas
  • Experience teaching middle school or secondary students preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Passion for arts education and student engagement
  • Knowledge of diverse artistic techniques and instructional strategies

Experience:

At least one year student teaching or approved internship

Communication

  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
