POSITION: MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETIC COORDINATOR~NEMS
POSITION TITLE: MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETIC COORDINATOR B(1) Stipend $7,485.00
REPORTS TO: The Director of Athletics, who provides a final evaluation to the superintendent, and the
building administrator.
Primary Functions: To provide each enrolled student of middle school age an opportunity to participate
in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a
knowledge and understanding of sports, and the principles of fair play.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the organization and administration of the overall program of extracurricular athletics.
Foster good school community relations.
Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming of athletic contest transportation requests of coaches.
Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming of games/practices.
Maintaining master practice schedules, master game schedules, master transportation requests.
Scheduling athletic contests in scheduling software.
Assigning and confirming athletic officials.
Rescheduling and communicating with athletic assigners and officials.
Assigning and confirming athletic contest game workers.
Maintaining master game workers schedules.
Develop appropriate rules and regulations governing student conduct during after school events.
Assist in the development of budgets by providing equipment and supply requests when
necessary.
Arrange details of visiting teams' needs.
Create, update, and share site information to visiting teams.
Ability to read, interpret directions, write reports, and communicate effectively with students,
parents and other staff.
Attend and supervise all home athletic contests.
Assist with visiting teams arrival and departure.
Assist with athletic officials arrival and departure.
Assist with crowd control and other necessary obligations during the entirety of the athletic
contest.

Sports Nights, Pre-season Coaches Meetings, and the like.
Ability to calculate figures and perform any math functions associated with the position.
Ability to apply common sense and deal with problems in a practical and reasonable manner.
Ability to apply basic computer knowledge to the activity at hand.
Ability to perform duties with all district and Board of Education guidelines and policies in mind.
Knowledge of and/or experience in the activity.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position that may vary widely depending on the
activity.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Connecticut coaching certification or temporary emergency coaching permit.
Updated CPR/First Aid training approved by Connecticut State Department of Education.
Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sports offered at the middle school level.
SALARY: Appropriate placement on the negotiated teachers A-2 schedule.
