WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision.
They will also meet the following qualifications and possess these preferred skills:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Substitute license (or ability to obtain substitute license within 30 days of hire date)
1-3 years experience working with children/students
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
Ability or willingness to learn to use spreadsheets and data systems to support attendance
Eagerness and ability to receive and implement feedback from manager, coach, and/or peers
Ability to prioritize punctuality and attendance
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL ACCOMPLISH
Proactively build meaningful, positive relationships with students
Work with teachers and school leaders to address student emotional and mental well being and needs
Uses restorative practices to contribute to positive school culture
In crisis situations, de-escalate and create a short-term plan to address immediate needs, dangers or threats
Effectively follow and use student behavior management systems; manage student behavior paperwork and trackers
Regularly track, analyze and respond to student behavior and school culture data
Meet the physical demands of light to moderate bending and lifting, climbing stairs, and standing intermittently throughout the day;
Work collaboratively by maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships
Ensure the coaching center is a clean, safe environment for students
Maintain VCP equipment to remain in working order; Chromebooks, textbooks, pencils, pens, etc. that belong to the school should be returned to their proper place at the end of each class period
Communicate frequently and effectively with student families; promptly return phone calls and answer emails
Support attendance: monitor daily attendance record keeping, and check daily attendance for accuracy
Receive and implement feedback from manager, coach, and/or peers
Engage in professional development (coaching, after school PD, etc.) 3-4 times per week
