Summary
Beagle Middle School is seeking two dedicated and passionate individuals to join our athletic department as a Middle School Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. This seasonal position offers the opportunity to mentor young athletes, develop their skills, and promote teamwork and sportsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily basketball practices that focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Develop game strategies and prepare the team for competitive matches.
- Organize and oversee all aspects of the basketball program, including scheduling games and practices.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during practices and games.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and any relevant updates.
- Foster a positive team culture that encourages player participation, growth, and respect for others.
- Monitor player attendance, performance, and academic eligibility throughout the season.
- Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to promote the overall athletic program.
- Attend all games and support the team during competitions, providing guidance and encouragement.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and coaching techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff in a collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season).
- A commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all players.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
