Position Details
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess knowledge of the fundamentals of basketball with the ability to teach and demonstrate to students
Ability to follow the direction of and work with existing coaching staff to develop necessary fundamental skills for betterment of the program
Must be able to design and implement short term and long term goals
Design a daily and weekly practice schedule with specific goals for team and individual development
Must be willing to work camps and team camps as needed
Effectively communicate with players, parents, and administration
Must model appropriate behavior, promoting at all times the social, emotional, and moral well-being of CPS student-athletes
Must be First Aid certified prior to the start of the 2026 season
Must be CPR certified prior to the start of the 2026 season
Must adhere to the Athletic Code for Coaches, as stated in the MHSAA Handbook
Become a member of the Michigan High School Basketball Coaches Association
Pass background check
PREFERRED
Willing to work with players in off-season and provide help with high school basketball events
Coaching experience, 2+ years
Willing to aid in fundraising activities
CAP 1 or CAP 2 trained by the start of the 2026 season
Have or willing to obtain CDL license
