The Baldwin-Woodville Area School District is now accepting applications for a middle school counselor. The counselor will serve students in 6th through 8th grade.
The ideal candidate will also possess the knowledge and skills needed to work with and counsel middle school students, including and understanding of Academic and Career Planning. The successful candidate should have knowledge and expertise in the Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model and PBIS. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person with leadership skills and experience working with students, families, and school personnel.
Duties / Responsibilities: Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, personal, social, and emotional challenges.
Required Skills / Abilities:
Counseling Skills: Proficiency in individual and group counseling techniques to effectively support students'' emotional and social needs.
Active Listening: Ability to listen attentively and empathetically to students, ensuring they feel heard and understood.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interactions with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
Data Analysis: Skills in interpreting district data in order to assess student needs and develop appropriate intervention strategies and supports.
Conflict Resolution: Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts among students, fostering a supportive school environment.
Crisis Intervention: Skills in providing immediate support and intervention during emergencies or crises involving students.
Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and community resources to address students' diverse needs.
Cultural Competence: Understanding and appreciation of diversity, with the ability to work effectively with students from various backgrounds.
Organization and Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases, maintain documentation, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Knowledge of Resources: Familiarity with community resources, mental health services, and educational programs available to support students and families.
