What is the Role?
The Dean of Students (DOS) is focused on building a safe, equitable, and supportive student culture at Coney Island Prep by implementing restorative justice practices and managing robust culture data systems. The DOS takes pride in collaborating with teachers, families, leadership, social workers, and the inclusive education team to meet the holistic needs of all students. To best support students, the DOS utilizes behavior and attendance metrics to design targeted intervention systems, write data-informed behavior improvement plans, and coach teachers on implementation. The DOS focuses on shifting school culture from punitive measures to restorative circles, mediation, and community-building frameworks. By refining tracking systems and analyzing trends, the DOS ensures equity in discipline and directly influences scholar success in the classroom.
The Dean of Students will be hired by the Principal and will report to the Vice Principal of Culture.
What You'll Be Asked To Do
Build a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community by implementing whole school structures and systems with an eye toward equitable outcomes across all stakeholders.
Collaborate and co-lead alongside entire school staff to build trust-based relationships with the community and contribute to an outstanding school culture.
Deliver exceptional academic results by maintaining an ownership mindset focused on improving student experience.
