We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated 5th and 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our middle school.
Key Responsibilities
- Lesson Planning: Design and implement dynamic, standards-aligned ELA lessons tailored for 5th and 6th-grade developmental levels.
- Instruction: Teach foundational grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and structured paragraph-to-essay writing.
- Literacy Growth: Guide students through diverse literary genres to build critical analysis and active listening skills.
- Assessment: Develop and grade rigorous assignments, essays, and exams; provide constructive feedback to support individual student growth.
- Classroom Management: Foster an inclusive, nurturing, and structured learning environment suitable for young middle schoolers.
- Communication: Maintain regular, transparent communication with parents and guardians regarding student academic and social progress.
- Collaboration: Partner with 5th-8th grade department colleagues and support staff to ensure vertical curriculum alignment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Middle School Education, English, or a related field.
- Certification: Valid teaching license for the state of Indiana covering grades 5 and 6 or the willingness and ability to obtain appropriate licensing.
- Experience: Previous classroom teaching or student teaching experience with upper elementary or middle school age groups is preferred.
- Skills: Strong understanding of early adolescent development, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior intervention.
