Middle School Language Arts Teacher Position Summary: Qualifications and Requirements: A middle teacher must have a current Teaching Certificate in their related field of instruction through the Department of Education for Michigan. The candidate must have or be willing to obtain a Catechist Certification through the Archdiocese of Detroit and an eagerness to continuously enrich their teaching expertise through professional development opportunities. The candidate must have or be willing to obtain Protecting God’s Children training. The ideal candidate should be prepared to: - Provide rigorous instruction in alignment with Catholic teachings
- Create an environment where Jesus is at the center of all learning and interactions, and the school vision is practiced.
- Work as a member of a supportive faculty
- Collaborate with colleagues on a regular basis
- Strive for academic excellence using robust teaching methods, student engagement and technology integration
- Develop and implement a rigorous, standards-based Language Arts curriculum
- Demonstrate competence in all areas of Language Arts
- Provide innovative and differentiated instruction to best reach all levels of learners and learning styles
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process including Chromebooks, smart boards and online instructional platforms
- Establishes a consistent disciplinary approach which sets high standards for student behavior, promotes self-direction and confidence, and manages inappropriate behavior effectively
- Maintain a positive relationship with parents, students, and colleagues through regular communication
- Provide a caring and nurturing classroom environment where students feel safe to learn and grow academically, socially, and spiritually
- Completes additional administrative, operational, and professional responsibilities as needed.
