Job Description
Anticipated Salary: Teacher/Counselor Pay Scale. This is an exempt position.
Time Off Plan: 10 days of PTO, 8 weeks of summer break, all teacher/counselor holidays
The Math Interventionist plays a critical role in supporting student achievement by providing targeted math instruction and intervention to 6th-8th grade students. This position is responsible for delivering daily small-group lessons, offering one-on-one remediation, and using student data to inform instruction and monitor progress. The Math Interventionist collaborates closely with classroom teachers, learning coaches, and school administrators to develop and implement effective learning plans. In addition to direct student support, the role includes contributing to professional development efforts, piloting instructional tools, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate is data-driven, collaborative, and passionate about helping all students reach proficiency in mathematics.

Offer daily small group lessons in accordance with program requirements
Hold one-on-one remediation sessions and make-up sessions as needed
Progress monitor student growth and academic performance
Communicate with learning coaches, teachers, and school administration
Provide math-specific professional development for the teaching staff as directed
Works collaboratively with the classroom teachers and staff to support meeting proficiency on standards and to coordinate the need for support/intervention.
Analyzes student data
Collaborates with grade-level teachers and administration to support student learning plans
Creates lesson plans and activities to enhance student learning in areas of need
Coordinates/facilitates pilots of instructional materials and software implementations
Monitors student progress through K12's interactive lessons and daily assessments
Coordinates/facilitates math intervention initiatives for students in grades 6-8
Collects and reviews work samples
Grades work, as appropriate
Alerts administrators to any concerns about student performance and progress
Maintains the confidentiality of school, teachers, and classrooms.
Builds community by contributing to school message boards, newsletter and events
Maintains paperwork consistently, appropriately and in a timely manner.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree
Valid SC teaching certificate
Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Ability to travel 25% of time
Ability to pass required background check.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Five (5) years teaching experience AND
Two (2) years of successful coaching/mentoring experience OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
Add-on certification for instructional coach OR enrolled and actively pursuing the instructional coach endorsement
Background working in education
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct reports.

All staff must reside in the state of South Carolina.
This position is remote with the following travel expectations:
Attend local student outing 1-2 times per semester
Attend in-person professional development 1-3 times per semester
Attend back-to-school professional development in July (1-3 consecutive days)
Participate in in-person student testing

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school.
