Position Details

Job Title: MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Serve as the instructional and administrative leader of East Grand Rapids Middle School, providing guidance and direction to ensure high-quality teaching and learning. Guide the instructional program and oversee school operations while promoting a positive, safe, supportive, and innovative learning environment that empowers students, staff, and families to achieve excellence. This role requires demonstrated leadership in supervising faculty and staff, promoting continuous improvement through data-driven approaches and meaningful feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or related field
  • Valid Michigan Administrative Certificate (ES) (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience and previous administrative experience
  • Strong understanding of the laws and evidence-based practices relating to Special Education, Section 504, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Restorative Practices, and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
  • Experience with supervisory responsibilities, including staff evaluations, overseeing budgets, supporting professional development for assigned staff, addressing concerns, and resolving problems

Essential Functions:

  • Proven leadership experience, including the development and implementation of operational systems such as scheduling, staffing, and student data platforms that effectively support student success
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills with a strong commitment to ensuring the voices of all educational partners are valued
  • Knowledge and belief in instructional best practices that meet the developmental and individualized needs of all students, particularly adolescents
  • Strong skills in data collection, interpretation, and analysis to drive school improvement processes that foster increased academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success for students
  • Proven leadership ability in building relationships, inspiring teachers around a common vision, and achieving transformative goals for students, families, staff, and administration
  • High-energy, well-organized, creative thinker, and a flexible team player with strong administrative skills
  • Excellent leadership skills in hiring, developing, and evaluating staff
  • Ability to collaborate with other district administrators and lead professional development for building staff
  • Manages the daily operations of the school and supervises all building procedures, budgets, and support personnel and systems
  • Ability to implement Board, State, and/or Federal level policies and procedures
  • Commitment to high visibility throughout the school and actively engaging with students, staff, and families
  • Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency of varied educational technology platforms
  • Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
  • Ability to complete other duties as assigned

Location: East Grand Rapids Middle School

Rate: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

Contract: 220 days

Start Date: July 2026
