Job Title: Middle School Project Lead the Way Teacher (STEM)

Qualifications Profile (Licensure): This position requires a valid and active license issued by the Indiana Department of Education in Science, Math or Technology Education grades 5-12

Education: Candidates must document successful attainment of degrees required for licensure in the state of Indiana

Location: Westlane Middle School

Position Start Date: 8/4/2026

Work Schedule: Full-Time

Calendar Length: 185 day contract

FLSA Classification: Salaried, Exempt

Salary/Hourly Rate: The teacher salary schedule is based on teaching experience and starts at Bachelor's $53,000/Master's $54,000 with 0 years of experience.

JOB EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Position Purpose / Description

The Teacher is responsible for teaching groups of students in a classroom setting, based on a curriculum and supported by instructional materials. The Teacher is responsible for developing daily lesson plans to ensure that the Teacher covers the curricular content in a timely manner throughout the semester or school year. The Teacher uses various instructional methods and techniques to meet the unique needs of the individual students and to assess their learning; the Teacher modifies instruction, re-teaches and remediates to ensure the students' success.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-aligned instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of students in assigned subject area(s)
  • Assess, monitor, and document student progress through multiple measures, maintaining accurate records and providing timely feedback to students and families
  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, social-emotional development, and academic achievement
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, support staff, and caregivers to support student learning

Additional Duties

  • Supervise students during non-instructional time, including hallway transitions, lunch periods, or assigned duties before and after school
  • Maintain classroom materials and technology
  • Submit required documentation in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building administration
  • Participate as an active member of the Technology PLC
  • Introduce district selected computer applications to students
  • Expand the STEM initiative at the middle school level especially reaching out to underrepresented groups
  • Technology and coaching professional development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep content knowledge in assigned subject area(s) and understanding of adolescent development and evidence-based instructional practices
  • Experience in teaching PLTW, CAD, Design, or engineering courses at the middle or high school level preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office applications, Google Docs for Education, and web 2.0 interactive tools
  • Familiarity with basic troubleshooting for Windows or Mac machines
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying academic levels, English language learners, students with disabilities, and other diverse learners
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with students, families, and colleagues, maintaining professional standards
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, and data analysis tools to enhance instruction and track student outcomes
