      Middle School Religion and Science Teacher

      Holy Cross Catholic School is seeking a full-time Middle School Teacher for religion and science. Holy Cross Catholic School is the parish school to Our Lady on the River Parish and is located in beautiful downtown Marine City. We are nestled on a quiet peninsula across from the beautiful St. Clair River. Our school is home to about 120 students preschool through eighth grade. We pride ourselves on offering a personalized education in a loving and nurturing environment. The Holy Cross community is supportive and tight knit. Our staff is comprised of qualified, supportive, and dynamic educators. Our mission is nurturing students in their faith, character, and academics in a personalized Catholic education.

      Responsibilities Include:
      • Embodies and promotes the mission and vision of Holy Cross Catholic School
      • Must be a practicing Catholic with a strong knowledge and love of the Catholic faith. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping middle school students grow in their relationship with Christ and will be committed to teaching and modeling Catholic values.
      • Develops and implements a rigorous, standards-based curriculum
      • Consistently creates a high level of active student engagement and student-led learning
      • Develops and uses effective methods of evaluation that are directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught; consistently and effectively evaluate student progress
      • Oversees the planning and implementation of the subjects of religion and science in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classrooms
      • Establishes a classroom atmosphere of caring respect and appropriate expectations, which promotes self-direction and confidence; sets high standards for student behavior and manages inappropriate behavior effectively and respectfully.
      • Communicates regularly with families and implements clear communication systems
      • Cooperates with school administration; works effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents
      • Completes additional operational and professional responsibilities and duties as needed

      Requirements Include:
      • Protecting God Children training or willingness to obtain
      • Fingerprints and Background Check
      • Current Michigan Teacher Certification 
      • Science endorsement (or willingness to obtain within 3 years)
      • Catechist certification (or willingness to obtain within 3 years)
