Middle School Science Teacher

Duties

  • Teach core concepts in physical science, life science, earth and space science, and engineering practices at the 8th-grade level.
  • Provide direct instruction to students in general science
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Help students develop the skills and strategies for scientific problem solving
  • Understand the basic concepts of science
  • Assist students in understanding the natural and human-designed worlds
  • Teach students how to obtain knowledge about nature
  • Show students historical models of biological and chemical processes and concepts and explain how they''ve changed
  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and administration.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with parents to enrich student performance.
  • Utilize detailed data analysis of student performance to deliver best practices.
  • Maintain school culture of high academic and behavioral expectations through continuous reflection.

Qualifications

Must hold a Professional Educator License with a middle school endorsement in Science.

Salary/Benefits

In accordance with experience and PNA Contract ($49,437-$66,785)

Dolton School District 149 is a PreK-8th grade school district with a student population of over 2000 students. Elementary Teaching Candidates must possess a growth mindset and be willing to nurture strong relationships with students, parents, and school colleagues. Candidates must also possess the mindset that the social emotional needs of students must be met in order for learning of curriculum to occur. Dolton School District 149 holds students to the highest standards of character and integrity while providing a technology-rich environment with up-to-date curriculum. New teachers to Dolton School District 149 will be supported through a teacher mentoring program.
