The Marion School District is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered individual to join our team in a unique, hybrid role as a Middle School Teacher & Student Success Specialist in our brand-new Marion Middle School (grades 5-8).
This position is designed for an educator who will lead some classroom instruction in essential, student-centered exploratory courses, while maintaining high-availability time in their daily schedule to provide targeted social-emotional and behavioral support.
What You Will Do:
Teach Real-World Skills: Deliver engaging instruction in foundational courses designed to prepare middle schoolers for the future, including:
Life Skills & Personal Health (including physical, mental, and social wellness)
Careers & Academic Preparedness (building study habits, organization, and goal setting)
Personal Confidence & Character Education
Provide Dedicated SEL Support: Utilize built-in, flexible schedule availability to work directly with students on social-emotional regulation, behavior coaching, and navigating the unique social challenges of the middle school years.
Collaborate as a Team: Work closely with our PK-4 Elementary Counselor and our 9-12 High School Counselor to ensure a seamless, district-wide network of support.
Support System-Wide Initiatives: Utilize academic & behavioral Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to enrich our positive school climate.
Advocate for Students: Assist our pupil services team with student 504 plans and support rights under the McKinney-Vento Act.
Who We Are Looking For:
Licensed Educator: Holds (or is eligible for) a Wisconsin teaching license appropriate for middle school levels (such as Health, Family and Consumer Science, or General Education with a passion for these elective areas).
Relationship-Builder: Outstanding communication skills and a natural ability to build trust with middle-school-aged youth.
SEL Advocate: Familiarity with social-emotional learning (SEL) curricula and restorative behavioral practices.
Collaborative Professional: A team player who thrives on shared collaboration, flexibility, and a high standard of professionalism.
