Duties

Cook County School District 130 is seeking a creative, student-centered educator that is passionate about bringing the history of global cultures to life. We are seeking an innovative middle school social studies teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. In this role, you will establish a vibrant classroom culture where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work in a collaborative environment when you can deliver differentiated, engaging instruction our students.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a middle school social science endorsement.
  • Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications and the ability to incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction.
  • Individual must be flexible, creative and student centered.
  • Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed.
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions.
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
  • Strong knowledge of state learning standards and instructional best practices in social studies.
  • Able to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Salary/Benefits

  • Starting salary of $54,344, commensurate with your education and experience (Please click the link to view the current (salary schedule).
  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule.
  • You will be paired with an experienced educator through our comprehensive Teacher Mentoring Program.

Additional Notes

  • Work hours: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
  • 180 days per year - August through May.
