Job Description: As a Middle School Global Literature (Social Studies) Teacher at Adelante, you are at the forefront of broadening our scholars perspectives on history, geography, culture, and current events through the unique lens of Global Literature. This innovative approach emphasizes the narrative aspects of social studies, connecting students with diverse cultures and histories around the world through storytelling, critical analysis, and discussion.

Equipped with Adelantes comprehensive resources, including a diverse selection of texts, multimedia materials, and interactive digital tools, you will craft lessons that transcend traditional boundaries of education. Your curriculum will not only cover historical facts and geopolitical concepts but also encourage students to engage deeply with the stories and experiences that shape our global society.

We ensure you have access to all necessary materials and support, empowering you to inspire a passion for global understanding and empathy. By integrating the rich narratives of Global Literature into your teaching, you help students develop a nuanced appreciation for the complexities of the world, preparing them to be informed, thoughtful, and active global citizens.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Implement curricula and activities that meet Indiana academic standards.
• Conduct assessments to gauge progress toward academic standards.
• Utilize assessment data to refine the curriculum and inform teaching strategies.
• Apply consistent rewards and/or consequences to ensure scholars adhere to the schools core values, expectations, and code of conduct.
• Be accountable for scholars' mastery of academic standards.
• Contribute to grade-level and school-wide activities.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with scholars, families, and colleagues.
• Engage actively in team meetings, including participating in an annual summer staff orientation and training.
• Supervise scholars during classes, breaks, meals, specials, and transitions to ensure a productive learning environment and their safety.
• Attend and engage in school events outside regular hours (e.g., family nights, scholar performances, field trips, report card nights, and Teacher-Family Conferences).
• Uphold and promote Adelante's core values and educational philosophy.
• Commit to being present and engaged at the school from 7:10 AM to 4:10 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexible work times available from 2:30-4:10 PM.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.

• Proven ability to contribute to and collaborate with a high-performing team toward high, equitable achievement for all scholars.
• Outstanding emotional intelligence, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong technical and organizational skills.
• Eagerness for constant observation and feedback
• Deeply rooted belief that children are capable of reaching the highest bars we set for them
• A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred
• Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required. Applicants in Indiana State-approved alternate certification programs must provide proof of enrollment.
