Middle School Tutor (Ela, Math & Executive Functioning)

Thrive Education Partners is seeking an exceptional middle school tutor to join our team. This position begins with a consistent weekend tutoring assignment and offers the opportunity to work with additional students as your availability allows. We are looking for an educator who is polished, highly organized, intellectually curious, and passionate about helping students develop both academic skills and confidence.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students in grades 5–8 and excels at building relationships while providing individualized, high-quality instruction.

Position Overview

The initial assignment requires a tutor who is consistently available:

• Saturday mid-mornings
• Sunday evenings

These hours are required for the initial student placement. As part of the Thrive team, you may also have opportunities to take on additional tutoring assignments throughout the week based on your availability and expertise.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one instruction in middle school English Language Arts and/or mathematics, depending on student needs.
• Explicitly teach executive functioning skills, including organization, planning, time management, study strategies, and self-advocacy.
• Develop individualized lesson plans that go beyond homework help to strengthen foundational skills and long-term academic success.
• Build students’ confidence while maintaining appropriately high expectations.
• Communicate professionally with families regarding student progress and recommendations.
• Collaborate with Thrive’s Educational Managers and team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring students in grades 5–8.
• Strong knowledge of middle school English Language Arts and/or mathematics.
• Experience supporting executive functioning skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build meaningful relationships while maintaining professionalism and structure.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to plan engaging, individualized sessions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or former classroom teacher, learning specialist, interventionist, or educational therapist.
• Experience working with students with ADHD, executive functioning challenges, dyslexia, or other learning differences.
• Background in structured literacy is highly desirable.
• Master’s degree or advanced training in education is a plus.

Compensation: $50-$80 per hour, based on experience
