Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced MIG Welder to join a manufacturing team in Oklahoma City. This position is responsible for welding, fabricating, and assembling steel components used in shoring and formwork systems for the construction industry.
The ideal candidate has hands-on structural steel welding experience, can read blueprints and shop drawings, and takes pride in producing strong, accurate welds in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 1 year of MIG welding experience in manufacturing, construction, or fabrication
Experience welding structural steel and heavy-gauge materials
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication instructions
Ability to accurately use tape measures and other measuring tools
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to safely operate welding equipment, hand tools, and fabrication equipment
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
High school diploma or GED preferred
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform MIG (GMAW) welding on steel components used in shoring and formwork systems
Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components according to blueprints and shop drawings
Set up, adjust, and safely operate MIG welding equipment
Use grinders, hand tools, measuring devices, and related fabrication equipment
Inspect completed welds to ensure structural integrity and compliance with quality standards
Measure and verify components to ensure proper fit and dimensional accuracy
Maintain safe material handling and welding practices throughout production
Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Assist with additional fabrication and assembly duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Previous structural steel fabrication experience
Experience working with heavy-gauge steel
Welding certification is a plus
Construction equipment or structural component manufacturing experience
Strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive physical activity throughout the shift
Ability to safely work around welding equipment, steel materials, sparks, heat, and industrial machinery while wearing required PPE
Comfortable performing physically demanding work in a manufacturing shop environment
Work Environment
