At the present time, a vacancy for a full-time Program Coordinator of Program Activities exists for the Migrant Education Program within the Student Services Division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This position will be based out of TCHS Pennock's Bridge in West Grove, PA.

Summary:

This position will serve as a Coordinator of Program Activities and a Program Specialist in Chester County, PA and is responsible for coordinating programmatic and student-related management activities. Additionally, the position is responsible for recruitment, student support, and parent involvement activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all after-school, Saturday, and summer programs for the Regional Migrant Education Program.

  • Coordinate activities with the Philadelphia School District and other agencies and service providers that benefit regional migrant students.

  • Ensure development and completion of Needs Assessment forms and student evaluations as required by State regulation

  • Coordinate activities of Students Support Specialists, Recruiters, Parent Coordinator, Instructional Assistants and Student Aides in the Regional Migrant Education Program

  • Facilitate the involvement of parents in the education of their children through translation/Interpretation, information, training and referrals.

  • Supervisor a team of program specialists in Chester County

  • Carry a caseload as a half-time Program Specialist and accomplish the following tasks:

  • Recruitment

  • Coordinate with schools, area agencies and local businesses to identify new students who have moved into the area

  • Visit homes of potentially eligible families to conduct recruitment interviews

  • Enroll eligible students in the Migrant Education Program using the National Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and complete all documentation following PDE MEP guidelines using appropriate technology

  • Student Support

  • Design, develop, and Implement in-home, after-school, Saturday, summer and extended-day supplemental educational programs for eligible migrant students in collaboration with school districts, social services and community agencies

  • Collect all PDE MEP mandated data and complete all required reports accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner

  • Interpret and utilize student data to design targeted instruction for MEP students

  • Parent Involvement

  • Facilitate school enrollment and the involvement of parents in the education of their children through participating in local school activities including school visitations, parent conferences and PTO/PTA meetings

  • Network with schools, agencies, and local community resources to plan and implement services that address parent needs such as translation/interpretation, information dissemination, trainings, meetings and referrals

  • Organize and support local Parent Advisory Council committee as per PA Migrant Education Program Service Delivery Plan

  • All other job responsibilities as assigned by the Program Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in elementary, secondary, early childhood or special education or related fields required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • Experience working with bilingual/bicultural students.
  • Experience with curriculum development preferred.
  • Documented ability to develop new educational programs preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.

Salary:

Project, Level 14, $68,981 - $86,823/yr.

  • Placement on scale commensurate to years of experience in similar positions*

260 day position, Monday-Friday, 7.5 hrs/day
