Responsibilities:
Receives milk specimens, accurately label and log each sample into the lab’s tracking system, and store them appropriately (e.g., refrigeration, freezing).
Performs routine tests (such as macronutrient content, microbiological assays, enzyme activity, pH measurements) following established protocols and SOPs.
Cleans, maintains, and calibrates laboratory equipment (e.g., spectrophotometers, centrifuges, pH meters), documenting all maintenance activities and keeping logs up-to-date.
Runs quality control samples, verify standards, troubleshoot inconsistencies, and ensure all data meet UAMS quality system requirements.
Records all test results, track specimen IDs, and prepare preliminary data reports for lead scientists or supervisors.
Monitors and reorders essential lab supplies (e.g., reagents, tubes, gloves), ensuring no critical shortages during routine work.
Performs routine environmental checks (e.g., incubator temperatures, freezer performance) and log readings to ensure sample integrity.
Adheres to all UAMS and federal biosafety, biohazard, and chemical safety protocols. Dispose of biohazardous waste safely and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
May perform other duties as assigned.
