Mill Helper

Bull Moose Tube Company is seeking to hire a full-time Mill Helperin our Chicago Heights, IL location. The shift time is 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. An open schedule and OT when needed (including some Saturdays) are required.

SUMMARY: Utilize tube forming equipment to produce ERW steel tubing. Oversee mill operation to ensure the highest quality tubing is achieved while adhering to safety and ISO standards. Perform complete and partial changeovers as orders dictate. Assure tubing piece count is accurate and bundles are properly configured.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operate control panel on the tube packaging conveyor
2. Manually package tube bundles when automatic packaging is not available
3. Operate pneumatic banders to band tube bundles
4. Set-up and operate the de-dimpler on the tube mill to remove dimples from round tube ends as orders dictate
5. Monitor mill speeds and maintain shop floor orders
6. Check length tolerance using a tape measure
7. Inspect OD Scarf and other surfaces for defects to maintain the highest quality standards
8. Maintain tube straightness per ASTM 500 or 513 spec by adjusting the dual turks-head stand or sizing stands
9. Perform changeovers per order specifications, which include changing rolls in each roll stand of the mill

OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Maintain regular and reliable attendance
2. Work cooperatively with others to ensure constructive and productive business relationships
3. Comply with all Company policies and procedures
4. Understand and effectively use the computerized programs

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Able to lift 50 pounds
2. Computer literate
3. Work well in a team-based environment

REQUIREMENTS:

1. High school diploma or GED
2. Strong verbal and math skills
3. Able to accurately read a tape measure
4. Flexibility to work overtime and/or various shifts
5. Able to work in an environment without climate control
6. Able to stand 8 to 12 hours per day

*Steel industry experience preferred.
