CNC Milling Machinist
Phoenix, AZ 85027
First Shift

Position Summary

The CNC Milling Machinist is responsible for producing high-quality precision components by operating CNC milling equipment. This role ensures parts are manufactured to engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling machines to produce precision components according to setup sheets, work instructions, and production schedules.
  • Confirm machine setup, tooling, fixtures, and workholding are correct before beginning production; report any issues to the Setup Technician or Supervisor.
  • Monitor machine performance, tooling condition, offsets, and cutting processes to ensure consistent quality and productivity.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments and accurately record inspection data.
  • Make authorized tool offset adjustments and replace tooling as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform routine machine care, including cleaning and basic operator-level maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Setup personnel to resolve machining or quality concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety and quality procedures.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of CNC milling experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
  • Solid understanding of CNC machining practices, tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and offset adjustments.
  • Experience using precision inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, and similar measuring tools.
  • Basic knowledge of CNC programming principles, including G-code and M-code functions.
  • Experience working in an AS9100 or other regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting abilities.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Approve in-process inspections for assigned machining operations.
  • Make authorized tool offset adjustments to maintain part quality.
  • Stop production and notify supervision if quality, safety, or equipment issues are identified.
  • Complete and sign required production documentation for finished operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspections of machined components.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate CNC machinery while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
