    Description

    Duties

    Duties include but are not limited to the following:

    • Monitor milling systems to ensure optimal performance and product quality
    • Perform equipment maintenance, repairs, and installations throughout the milling facility
    • Record process parameters and maintenance activity logs
    • Operate loaders, forklifts, cranes, and other maintenance-related equipment
    • Inspect and maintain metal detectors, magnets, sifters, and safety mechanisms
    • Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment in compliance with GMP and SOP standards
    • Support and participate in preventive maintenance programs
    • Assist with packaging operations and general plant upkeep as needed
    • Uphold and promote all food safety and workplace safety policies
    • Identify and proactively report or resolve facility or equipment concerns
    • Assist with oversight of contractors ensuring PPE, permits, and policies are followed
    • Perform welding, cutting, plumbing, and minor fabrication for repairs and installations
    • Execute other duties as assigned by the Milling Superintendent or Maintenance Manager

    Minimum Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 6 months to 1 year of relevant maintenance and/or milling experience preferred
    • Completion or willingness to complete IAOM milling correspondence and KSU short courses
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance record-keeping
    • Ability to read and interpret safety manuals, operating procedures, and technical documentation
    • Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude
    • Willingness to work all shifts, weekends, and extended hours as needed

    Skills and abilities

    • Truck and large equipment operation
    • Basic system knowledge: electrical, pipefitting, plumbing, and grain systems
    • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills
    • Understanding of food-grade maintenance requirements and grain dust hazards
    • Familiarity with safety documentation, bin rescue, confined space, and lockout/tagout procedures

    Physical Demands

    Physically able to perform all requirements including but not limited to:

    • Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, bending, reaching, crouching, and crawling
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs regularly
    • Working in elevated, confined, or enclosed spaces
    • Operation of hand and power tools
    • Exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, vibration, extreme temperatures, and chemicals

    Work Environment

    • Work is performed in a milling and industrial environment
    • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and high places
    • Occasional exposure to electrical shock, weather elements, and hazardous materials
    • PPE is required to mitigate risks associated with equipment and environment
    • Noise level is typically loud due to heavy machinery and equipment use
