A day in your work boots
You arrive for a rotating shift, join a quick safety huddle, and plan the day’s priorities. Moments later, you’re at a mill stand tracing a vibration to a gearbox issue. You lock out, tear down, replace components, and bring the line back up. After lunch, you perform preventive maintenance on a bank of pumps—inspect, clean, lubricate, and adjust feed, speed, and power—and close the day by documenting work and flagging a potential environmental hazard you spotted along the way.
What you’ll tackle
- Diagnose malfunctions by starting, observing, and safely operating equipment to confirm issues and determine repair vs. replace.
- Dismantle, repair, lubricate, reassemble, and conduct general maintenance across varied mill equipment and tools.
- Execute preventive maintenance: inspect, clean, lubricate, and adjust feed, speed, and power input/output.
- Tear down, replace, install, and assemble parts, components, and accessories to OEM standards.
- Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, and improper equipment operation.
What you bring
- Successful completion of the Ramsey Mechanical Maintenance Test.
- 3–5 years of heavy machinery maintenance in an industrial environment.
- Knowledge of AC/DC motors, gearbox mechanics, lubrication principles, welding, cutting torch, NFPA 70E, and common maintenance tools.
- Knowledge of pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, stick and TIG welding, and rigging principles.
- Communication skills to collaborate with supervisors, engineers, maintenance, and production operators.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule covering days, nights, and two consecutive weekends per month (Dupont 4/3 schedule).
