Job Description

The Milling Programmer & Lead is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling equipment to produce complex, high-precision medical device components. This position also serves as a technical lead within the milling department, providing guidance and support to machinists, assisting with job launches, troubleshooting machining issues, and supporting efficient production processes.

The Milling Lead works closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure jobs are programmed, set up, and produced to customer specifications while maintaining quality, efficiency, and production requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC programs for complex, tight-tolerance components.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC milling equipment, including multi-axis machining.
  • Develop and document efficient machining processes, including tooling, feeds and speeds, workholding, and machining strategies.
  • Develop setup sheets, tooling lists, and workholding strategies for new and existing jobs.
  • Support new job launches from programming and setup through production.
    Troubleshoot complex programming, setup, tooling, and machining issues on the production floor.
  • Make program and process adjustments to improve quality, cycle time, tool life, and overall efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to machinists within the milling department.
  • Assist with training and developing machinists on programming, setups, equipment, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the milling team and assist with prioritizing and resolving production issues.
  • Communicate production concerns, job status, and technical issues to appropriate leadership.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to develop and improve machining processes.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Maintain accurate CNC programs, setup documentation, and related manufacturing records.
  • Promote consistent quality, efficient processes, and adherence to company procedures.
  • Follow all company quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
