We are seeking a Milling Machine Machinist 2 to support our PMC department.


  • Sets up and operates manual or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours, boring compound angular holes, helical and spiral milling, serrating, and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances.

  • Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling, plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup, determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.

  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.

  • Uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

  • Makes standard shop computations. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to Client out stock for machining.

  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

  • Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

  • Fabrication of parts, assemblies, installations, and repair of production metal products using HAAS 3 and 5-axis mill machines

  • Operate under restrictive policies regarding FOE (Foreign Object Debris), clean-as-you-go, and housekeeping.

  • Adhere to safety policies, including the use of safety glasses. Proper PPE (personal protective equipment) and hazardous waste requirements

Responsibilities
Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours; boring compound angular holes; doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances. Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations; and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to Client out stock for machining. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Exclude general, all-around machinists and operators who do not perform their own setups or determine the sequence of operations.

Basic Qualifications for Milling Machine Machinist 2


  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years related machining experience in an aerospace, military, or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in programming and operating a 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC machine (with simultaneous movements)

  • Experience in Mastercam or related CAM software

  • Experience in GD&T in the design and manufacturing process

  • Ability to design and create customized fixtures and tooling for jobs

  • This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work including bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces

  • Ability to pass a new-hire physical.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company, to meet its business needs. U.S. Citizenship required for clearance


Preferred Qualifications for Milling Machine Machinist 2


  • Experience in programing and operating a 3 axis and/or 5 axis CNC machine (with simultaneous movements)

  • Experience in Mastercam or related Cam software

  • Experience in GD&T in design and manufacturing process

  • Ability to design and create customized fixtures and tooling for jobs

  • Experience working in an Aviation Rapid Prototype and/or Experimental Fabrication Environment

  • Experience using NX or CAD modeling programs

  • Experience working from Composites, Al, Ti, and Inconel

  • Active U.S. Government Secret level clearance last investigated within 5 1/2 years.

  • Experience with Aerospace Parts

  • Experience in a team environment

  • Innovative and self-motivated

  • Knowledge of ERP/SAP
