    Description

Millwork Designer / Engineer / Draftsperson

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Millwork Designer / Engineer / Draftsperson who thrives at the intersection of design, engineering, and craftsmanship. This role is ideal for someone who understands how exceptional millwork is conceived, engineered, fabricated, and installed - and who takes pride in transforming creative concepts into precise, buildable solutions.

You will play a critical role in translating architectural and interior design intent into accurate shop drawings, 3D models, and CNC-ready production documentation for custom millwork, cabinetry, and specialty fixtures.

This is an opportunity to work on unique, high-end, design-forward projects where creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving are equally valued.

    Design & Technical Documentation
    • Produce detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and 3D models for custom millwork and architectural woodworking projects
    • Translate sketches, renderings, architectural plans, and conceptual designs into accurate, production-ready documentation
    • Develop CNC-ready files and support manufacturing workflows
    • Create nesting layouts and optimize material usage for fabrication efficiency
    • Ensure all drawings meet project specifications, production standards, and installation requirements
    Engineering & Problem Solving
    • Engineer complex custom fixtures and millwork assemblies, including integration of mechanical and architectural components
    • Identify constructability concerns and proactively develop practical solutions
    • Recommend materials, hardware, finishes, and fabrication methods that align with design intent, performance requirements, and budget expectations
    • Support continuous improvement of drafting, engineering, and production processes
    Project Coordination
    • Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, interior designers, fabricators, installers, and clients
    • Conduct site visits and field measurements to ensure dimensional accuracy and successful project execution
    • Participate in project reviews and technical coordination meetings
    • Support estimating teams with material takeoffs, production insights, and cost-related information
    • Manage multiple active projects while maintaining organization, quality, and deadlines
    Required Qualifications
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in millwork drafting, design, engineering, or related technical roles
    • Strong knowledge of architectural millwork, cabinetry, custom fixture fabrication, and woodworking construction methods
    • Proficiency in: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Swood, Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience preparing CNC-ready files and nesting for production
    • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, hardware, and installation methods
    • Excellent technical drafting and visualization skills
    • Strong communication, organization, and time-management abilities
    • Valid driver's license
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in a woodshop, cabinet shop, or finish carpentry environment
    • Experience drafting or engineering architectural steel components
    • Familiarity with manufacturing workflows and CNC machinery
    • Experience coordinating with field installation teams and construction professionals
    Desired Skills & Attributes
    • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
    • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
    • Adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges before they arise
    • Passion for craftsmanship, design excellence, and high-quality execution
    Compensation & Benefits
    • Competitive compensation based on experience
    • 401(k) with employer contribution
    • Paid time off and paid holidays
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
