Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Millwright for our client, a metal fabrication and conveyor systems contractor, in Portland, OR. This is a senior-level role for an experienced millwright who can hit the ground running - independently installing, aligning, troubleshooting, and repairing custom-fabricated equipment and conveyor systems. Travel to job sites, field installs, shutdowns, and customer locations is a consistent and non-negotiable part of this position.

Pay & Schedule

Pay: $38.00 - $45.00/hr DOE

Shift: Monday - Friday | Day Shift | Travel required

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, align, troubleshoot, and repair conveyor systems including belt, roller, chain, and screw conveyors

  • Work with fabricated metal frames, weldments, and custom-built equipment in both shop and field environments

  • Cut, weld, and fit components as part of installs, repairs, and field modifications

  • Diagnose mechanical failures involving bearings, pulleys, shafts, drives, and gearboxes

  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and mechanical layouts

  • Plan jobs, organize work steps to ensure efficient workflow, and coordinate resources to minimize downtime

  • Lead and manage crews of up to 10 people in shop and field environments

  • Make on-the-fly mechanical and fabrication decisions in the field as conditions require

  • Travel consistently to job sites, customer locations, field installs, and shutdowns

Required Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of experience as a millwright or senior industrial mechanical professional

  • Hands-on background in fabrication shops, manufacturing plants, or conveyor-focused operations

  • Strong proficiency with conveyor systems (belt, roller, chain, screw) - installation, alignment, and troubleshooting

  • Experience cutting, welding, and fitting metal components in the field

  • Ability to read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and mechanical layouts

  • Comfortable working independently and leading crews with minimal supervision

  • Must be fully willing and able to travel consistently - candidates not open to regular travel will not be considered

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Millwright card or equivalent certification

  • Experience running field installs and startups from planning through completion

  • Prior experience coordinating with customer sites during shutdowns or commissioning

Work Environment

Work is performed in both shop and field environments including manufacturing facilities, customer sites, and active job sites. Conditions vary and may include outdoor work, industrial settings, confined spaces, and physical demanding installs. Required PPE must be worn at all times.
