The Mine Manager is responsible for providing raw material (sand) to the plant at the lowest overall cost feasible and to ensure the plant never runs out of quality material. Additionally, responsible for mining operations by dredge or strip mining. May have additional Plant responsibilities in the Wet Plant such as cleaning the raw material and screening out any impurities or out of product specification material. The Mine Manager will ensure safety and be an expert in MSHA regulations and compliance. The manager will have an aptitude for leadership and values teamwork and contribution of all employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Makes recommendations as part of a full range of supervisory responsibilities including hiring, training, scheduling of work, grievances, performance counseling, and recommendations for promotions, demotions, and termination of employment.

  • Ensures that all relevant Human Resources and HSE policies and procedures are followed and adhered to.

  • Engage in proactive communication with supervisory team and personnel.

  • Ensure compliance with all MSHA regulations.

  • Ensure all quality testing is performed and the product is within specifications.

  • Coordinate with other departments to develop long- and short-term objectives.

  • Prepare and maintain daily and weekly production reporting as assigned.

  • Initiate correction action (accountability) when necessary.

  • Communicate process malfunctions, irregularities, or potential problems to Management.

  • Oversee personnel who operates machinery used in the mining processes or assist operators when necessary.

  • Develop and train machine operators to ensure compliance with MSHA regulations.

  • Audit mining equipment and perform regular pre-mining equipment inspections.

  • Work with maintenance department when assistance is needed for equipment repairs.

  • Ensure safe work areas and assist in enforcement of MSHA rules and plant safety rules.

  • Assist in Capital Planning and fleet (equipment) management.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Other Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Five (5) or more years' experience mining raw materials.

  • One (1) or more years' experience with supervising, coordinating, managing, and training maintenance personnel.

  • Thorough working knowledge of MSHA regulations to ensure compliance.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

  • Able to read, speak and write English.

  • Frequently required to Lift/Carry or Push/Pull 75 lbs.

  • Work performed in a plant environment. Exposure to inclement weather as most work will be performed outside.

  • Comply with and enforce Company Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy.

  • Auditory and fall protection applicable when required.

  • Sensitive to confidential information.

  • Must work independently and as a member of a team.
