    Description

    Mineral Processing Engineer/Metallurgist

    Virgina


    Seeking a motivated Engineer to provide hands-on metallurgical and process engineering support to our production teams by optimizing process performance, improving plant efficiency, and ensuring safe and sustainable processing practices. The engineer must exercise sound judgment in evaluating problems, coordinating metallurgical/process test work, and provide solutions and feedback to operational personnel/management.


    Key Responsibilities

    Technical & Operational Support

    • Provide process engineering support to mining and mineral separation operations to ensure efficient and safe mineral processing with emphasis on wet gravity separation and dry electrostatic and magnetic separations

    • Monitor daily production data and quality parameters to identify adverse conditions and/or trends and offer suggestions for remedial actions

    • Collaborate and engage with Site Managers and Plant Personnel to ensure all stakeholders are kept appropriately informed about plant performance and processing requirements


    Plant Performance & Optimization

    • Monitor and review plant performance, identifying opportunities for improvement including separation equipment setting changes, projects, and/or training programs

    • Conduct process audits, surveys, and performance evaluations

    • Optimize plant systems, including:

    Materials handling 

    Water balance 

    Physical separation equipment/circuits, including:

    Magnetic

    Electrostatic

    Gravity/Density

    • Contribute to plant design modifications and process improvements

    • Promote safe work practices among employees and contractors


    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related fields

    • Some experience in mineral sands or industrial mineral mining, or heavy industry processing environments preferred

    • Strong understanding of mineral processing principles and plant operations

    • Experience with process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies

    • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes

    • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

    • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship
