The successful candidate must have exceptional legal research, writing, and critical thinking ability; high academic achievement; excellent verbal and written advocacy at motion hearings and trial; and the capacity to organize, prioritize and multi-task.Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota and minimum of two years of experience as an attorney.Essential Functions and DutiesRepresent individuals or organizations related to workers' compensation claims in court cases and other legal proceedings such as arbitrations, mediations and other law proceedings.Research and investigate and analyze workers' compensation cases.Prepare pleadings, necessary documents and reports for workers compensation court proceedings.Confer with workers compensation adjusters, attorneys and other interested parties.Experience with Compensation Court of Appeals, the Minnesota Supreme Court and the State District Court.Participate as a member of the team of lawyers who practice in the areas of workers compensation, employment and other business litigation matters.Travel to represent and be comfortable presenting cases in front of judges and juries.Conduct exceptional legal research and writingHandle all legal disputes that occur in business context for the business litigation practice area.Prepare information for court, interview witnesses and review documents and closing deals outside of courtrooms.Prepare, attend and advocate at motion hearings and trialsAttend client and community events for business development opportunitiesFocus on growing business litigation practiceSupport designated clients in timely and professional mannerRequired Knowledge and ExperienceWorker's compensation laws and practicesPleading and practice of effective presentation of court casesPrior experience with motion practice, discovery disputes and trial preparationPrior experience settling challenging disputes with contract negotiations or interpretationsStrong negotiation and persuasive skills with confidence in the courtroomCore CompetenciesStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong critical thinking abilitySelf-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detailHighly professional with a strong customer service orientation, commitment to meeting deadlines, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentStrong professional, independent thinking skills with strength in problem solving and the ability to offer constructive opinions and creative solutionsA team player who motivates and educates other team membersCompensation and Bonus InformationBase compensation will vary based on level of experience.
