GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position of WH BL/SL Operator is responsible for all operating functions as listed

below. Operation of WH SL/BL must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the

equipment to meet all the quality and productivity goals as outlined in our quality system. All

work instructions must be followed as outlined.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Listed below are the primary activities which must be learned, understood and followed

according to work instructions. The normal time frame for completion of training is

approximately 1500 hours. The Process Engineer/Supervisor will monitor each person's

progression and provide any necessary instruction or direction as deemed necessary

during the training period.

  1. Check coil to be run on the unit to insure it corresponds to the schedule. Check with the

Inspector for pay-off instructions and any other special instructions as listed in the AS

400 system.

  1. Set up Slitter Head and place coil into the unit.

  2. Feed the coil to and through the Slitter Head, insuring the side scrap is centered and edge

burrs are within tolerance. Thread the strip into the Coiler Reel. Follow all work

instructions for the Threading operation.

  1. Insert cardboard cores, cardboard, skids, foam and interleaving paper as per work

instruction for operations and customer requirements.

  1. Operate line at proper speeds, etc. as per work instruction and Inspectors direction.

Follow all work instructions.

  1. Other Miscellaneous Items:

a. Start and remove Interleaving Paper as per work instructions.

b. Remove any scrap or secondary pup coils as directed by Inspection

c. Make Arbor Head set ups per ASKO/Cowles Software programs.

d. Enter all Machine Sheets as per work instructions.

e. Prepare used Slitter Knives into boxes for grinding.

f.Prepare all families of Arbor Rubbers for grinding.

g. Change ID Plates as specified.

h. Cut skids, cores and paper as needed for coil widths and gauges.

i.Follow all prescribed safety rules.

j.Start, remove and band all scrap balls as per work instructions.

k. Perform all Housekeeping/Maintenance functions as assigned.

l.Band all finished coils and skids per work instructions.

m. Perform all other jobs as assigned.

n. Assist as necessary the loading and unloading of coils

  1. Participation in continuous improvement programs.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Other duties as assigned

  2. Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to multi-task are a must.

  2. Basic computer skills and ability to use inspection tools required.

  3. Minimum of a high school degree or equivalent required.

  4. Previous Quality Inspection experience preferred.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Mobility in plant
  • While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,

walk, etc.

  • The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Visual ability with or without correction
  • Communication abilities

HEALTH AND SAFETY:

  1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations

  2. Follow Company safety rules

  3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor

or Manager immediately

  1. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or

worn:

a. Safety shoes

b. Safety glasses

c. Hearing protection

d. Hard Hat

Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:

e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with

company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.

f.Fire Retardant clothing

g. Acid PPE

  1. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the

Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy

  1. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines

  2. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations

  3. Maintain a clean and safe work area

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations

  2. Clean, well ventilated and safe work areas.
