Description
This position is a part-time evening instructor position within the Minuteman Technical Institute, with an anticipated start date of September 10, 2026, and an anticipated end date of June 17, 2027. The candidate is required to have at least 5 years recent work experience with teaching or training experience preferred. Applicants for this position will be expected to implement instruction with a strong focus on preparing participants for entry-level positions in the field upon program completion. Classes are held Mondays through Thursdays, 5:00PM to 9:00PM. Applicants for this position will be expected to have in-depth knowledge of the latest PHCC Massachusetts Fuel Gas and Plumbing Code, and the ability to connect hands-on learning with components of the Plumbing Code. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon the availability of funding. Courses are subject to sufficient enrollment and may be canceled prior to the start date if minimum enrollment is not met. Responsibilities and compensation are outlined below. Major Responsibilities:
Plan, implement and periodically update a program of study based upon the Massachusetts Vocational/Technical Curriculum Frameworks, the PHCC Massachusetts Fuel Gas and Plumbing Code and industry-recognized credentials that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students seeking employment in the field.
Actively work with local business and industry experts for continuous program improvement.
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
Guide the learning process toward curriculum and establish objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to post-secondary students.
Assess students on a regular basis and provide progress reports.
Maintain all records necessary for reporting student grades, performance, and the acquisition of industry-recognized credentials.
Counsel with colleagues and students on a regular basis.
Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Assist the Director of Adult, Community and Expanded Access Programs in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct.
Assist the Director in implementing MTI goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the program.
Maintain the condition of facilities.
Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the Director.
Qualifications:
Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required.
Must pass a CORI/SORI screnning and provide proof of having submitted to fingerprinting per MA DESE guidelines.
Must have a current Master Plumber license from the MA Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Pipefitters.
Must have had 10 years experience in the field.
Experience with on-line student management systems, including those that allow for curriculum sharing.
Previous experience with X2-Aspen grading system preferred but not required.
Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.
Additional Requirements:
This position includes but is not limited to: interacting with the public, walking around the school, observing students, standing for periods, occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, reading documents, using a computer, listening and speaking, using office equipment, maintaining energy throughout the day, and handling stress effectively.
Terms of Employment:
Part-Time.
Monday - Thursday, 5:00PM - 9:00PM.
Hours will vary based on District and student needs.
Grant-funded position, contingent on the availability of funding and sufficient course enrollment.
