Responsibilities
- Review and analyze construction plans, specifications, and estimates in detail
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy
- Plan and organize assigned project(s) in collaboration with the Project Executive, Operations Director, and/or Division Manager, including: Material and equipment tracking and procurement, Preparing RFIs (Requests for Information), Maintaining current information for field staff, such as drawing updates, RFI implementation, and safety documents, Managing start-up and closeout documentation, including submittals, shop drawings, O&Ms, as-built drawings, and test reports
- Monitor and direct construction activities alongside the onsite Foreman and General Superintendent to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective measures within company guidelines
- Manage the financial aspects of contracts (schedule of values, progress billing, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the company's interests while maintaining strong client relationships; compile bi-monthly costing reports for leadership
- Supervise the preparation of and negotiate all project change orders
- Represent the company in project meetings and manage client relationships
- Quickly gain a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures, ensuring adherence on jobsites
- Stay current on industry best practices and standards, recommending improvements to leadership
- Promote a positive culture through constructive employee relations; supervise, train, and mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and field employees in both electrical systems and company culture, while fostering employee growth and development
- Collaborate with the VDC/BIM team to evaluate construction documents and coordinate electrical design efficiently and in compliance with code; attend BIM meetings, review 3D coordination models, and review shop drawings before they go to the field
- Support the Safety Director and QA/QC team in developing and implementing site-specific quality control and safety programs
- Maintain extensive knowledge of safety protocols and reinforce safety standards across all jobsites
- Partner with Human Resources on recruitment, selection, hiring, and retention of a qualified field workforce
- Participate in field performance reviews and coach employees on professional growth and training opportunities
- Coordinate with the Accounting Department and vendors to ensure effective material management and purchase order accuracy
Requirements
- BS in Construction Management or equivalent studies/experience preferred
- 7–10+ years of Project Management experience with an electrical contractor required
- Healthcare project management experience required
- Field experience coordinating with construction leadership preferred
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.)
- Advanced ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Ability to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with tight timelines
- Demonstrated leadership and track record of project success
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, Revit, Navisworks, and estimating/scheduling software
- Strong ability to navigate and analyze BIM
- Working knowledge of codes and standards related to electrical installations
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a positive, can-do attitude
- Commitment to responsive client service, including after hours
- Ability to communicate and motivate effectively across all levels — field employees, leadership, vendors, and clients
