Basic Job Functions:

The Mobile Equipment Mechanic position is responsible for Emergency Service Calls, as well as Preventive Maintenance/Repair Work on Heavy Mobile Equipment which Includes Fork trucks, Service Trucks, Semi-Tractor Trailers, Material Handling Cranes, Loaders, and Locomotive Engines.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working Knowledge of Heavy Equipment Electronic Diagnostics Systems
  • Working Knowledge of Heavy Equipment Hydraulic Systems and Trouble Shooting
  • Working Knowledge of Gasoline and Diesel Engines in Heavy Equipment Applications


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 year Associates Degree or Vocational Tech Certificate in Heavy Mobile Equipment Maintenance
  • Preventive/Predictive Training
  • 3 years Field Service with Heavy Equipment Dealership
  • Strong Desire for Self Improvement
