Job Summary/Basic Functions

This is skilled work mainly operating and maintaining motor vehicles and rolling equipment to accomplish transportation, maintenance and construction tasks.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

This position is considered an essential personnel position and must be available to respond to campus emergencies after nonbusiness hours and during campus closures. The employee may be assigned to the emergency team that remains on campus and/or evacuates to an offsite location during emergency events. Must have a current Driver''s License.

Knowledge of general motor vehicle and rolling equipment operation and maintenance techniques, methods and procedures.

Skill in performing general motor vehicle and rolling equipment operation and maintenance functions.

Ability to complete general motor vehicle and rolling equipment operation and maintenance duties and responsibilities.

Ability to read and interpret a greater New Orleans metropolitan road map.

Ability to use hand tools and power tools and equipment properly.

Ability to carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work off of roofs, cat walks, and other elevated areas.

Ability to carry or otherwise move loads of 50 pounds or more (pipe, wire, tool boxes, etc.).

Ability to understand and apply University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges.

Visual ability, corrected, to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles.

Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Other Information About the Position

LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Mobile Equipment Operator 2. Must possess a valid Drivers License.

Starting rate of pay is 17.18 per hour with an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only. Rate of pay may be adjusted dependent upon applicants qualifications.

Hours of Operation: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• properly and safely operate the following equipment: Bobcat tractor, passenger van, pickup truck, dump body truck, stake body truck, sweeper, power washer truckster, rental equipment and other equipment used in daily or for special purpose tasks
• picks up parts and materials from vendors;
• transports coworkers or other persons between-points on and/or off institution grounds
• building exterior clean-up
• tree maintenance
• intramural field maintenance
• assists other departments as assigned
• work orders

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: None

Certifications or Licenses Required: Must possess a valid Drivers License.

Number of years required to perform the job: 1

Type of experience required to perform the job: Experience in mobile equipment operations.
