OUR MISSION
At the Lafourche Basin Conservation Levee & Drainage District, our mission is to ensure operational, financial and maintain the integrity of the Westbank of the Mississippi Levee System, which consist of 63 miles from Donaldsonville, Ascension Parish, to St. Charles Parish. Additionally, we maintain over 30 miles of flood protection in St. Charles Parish.
About this position
Mobile Equipment Operator 2 is a valuable part of the Lafourche Basin Conservation Levee & Drainage District because of their ability to operate equipment on the levee slopes to maintain the Mississippi River Levee & flood protection levees. This employee will work under the supervision of the Levee Foreman B and/or Levee Maintenance Director.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Operates one or more of the following types of equipment as a primary, regular and recurring function of the job: field tractors with power ratings up to and including 125hp; tractors which may be equipped with attachments such as bush-hogs, belly attachment, blades, loaders, hoes, flail mowers, brooms and gang mower up to 21 feet across, etc.; forklifts with lifting capacity over 10,000 lbs. or lift height over 12 feet
Operate zero turn mowers to cut along bike paths, ditches, etc.
Makes minor repairs to equipment and performs user maintenance necessary to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
Performs miscellaneous labor duties such as cleaning of maintenance yard, washing vehicles, trimming trees, graffiti removal, sand-bagging where problems develop.
Works with weed eaters, chainsaws, pole saws, and various other hand tools to remove weeds, grass, brush and trees from levees and the properties owned and maintained by the LBCLDD.
May perform incidental repair and construction tasks. May assist with the training and guidance of other newly hired employees.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational Appointment - up to 24 hours
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Note: Agency preferred qualification for applicants is to have valid drivers license
