Mobile Food and Vending Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Cleveland Department of Public Health (CDPH) isseekinga highly organized, detail-oriented, and mission-driven professional to serve as aMobile Food and VendingCoordinator within the Division of Environmental Health. The position plays a key role in coordinatingmobile, vending,and temporary inspections;SmokeFreeWorkplaceProgramcompliance,and supporting regulatory compliance, staff training, and quality improvement efforts that protect the health and safety of Cleveland residents.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, experienced in environmental health regulations, and committed to continuous improvement and workforce development.

Examples of Duties

Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or programs operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in program administration required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. Valid State of Ohio Drivers License required.

Supplemental Information

Essential Duties:

Food Program

• Work in collaboration/cooperation with Cleveland Fire Department and Assessments & Licenses
• Review and approve mobile, vending and temporary events applications
• Coordinate and/or conduct yearly initial and pre-licensing mobile food inspections
• Investigate mobile food and vending complaints
• Review and approve temporary event applications Review, process and print mobile food, vending and temporary events food licenses
• Represent Cleveland Department of Public Health at the weekly Special Steering Committee Meeting
• Track and assign large multi-license venue inspections

Smoke Free Workplace Program

• Coordinate and/or investigate complaints regarding smoking in workplaces and public places
• Conduct investigations and respond to all complaints received via the Ohio Department of Health complaint database
• Consider, evaluate and record at each on-site investigation, the existence of "No Smoking" signage, ashtrays, the act of smoking and whether any outdoor patio areas comply with relevant state of Ohio rules and regulations
• Review and maintain log of workplace smoking complaints into Ohio Smoking Complaint Database

Other Duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3years of experience as an EHSIT/REHS at a local and/or state health department or relevant agency (education may be considered in lieu of experience).
• Valid State of Ohio Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) registration in accordance with Chapter 4736of the Ohio Revised Code.
• A master's degree in public health, business/health/public administration, public policy, or related field is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of local, state and/or federal food safety codes, rules and regulations.
• Experience in training or workforce development.

• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory codes consistently.
• Excellent organizational and project coordination skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inspection database systems.
