Responsibilities:
Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing
The MSU Aircraft Technician (Atlanta, GA) will perform a variety of aircraft modifications and maintenance functions on AOG aircraft on road trips. Duties include advanced troubleshooting, removal and installations of airframe components, landing gear, engine components, electrical components, control systems and any other maintenance requirements required to return aircraft to service.
Your Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Provides remote and on-site troubleshooting support to aircraft experiencing AOG events and coordinates corrective actions to safely return aircraft to service.
- Perform maintenance and servicing of all aircraft mechanical and avionics systems
- Must demonstrate the ability to work independently to perform assigned maintenance and avionics tasks.
- Ensures that all work accomplished meets quality standards, maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and company policies.
- Works directly with Maintenance Control, OEM technical support, vendors, FBOs, and operational stakeholders to expedite maintenance events and minimize aircraft downtime.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with scheduling, flight crews, Technical Support, vendors, and leadership.
- Provides regular updates on aircraft status and all support activity to MCC and leadership, as needed.
- Operates and supervises the use of special support equipment utilized in the removal and installation of major aircraft components.
- Coordinates and assists with aircraft movements alongside Line Service and FBO personnel.
- Responsible for coordinating, ordering, receiving, and inspecting all tooling, parts, and materials needed to support maintenance activities.
- Properly completes work order signoffs, logbook entries, shift turnovers, expense reports, and all other required documentation in a timely manner.
- Properly identifies, tags, and stores aircraft components, parts, and company property securely and safely.
- Responsible for inspecting the MSU vehicle, monitoring tool calibration status, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring hazmat compliance.
- Arranges the shipment and return of core units, tooling, and equipment to the appropriate locations.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining a professional attitude in time-sensitive situations.
- Establishes and maintains professional working relationships and positively represents the Wheels Up brand when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assists in the training and development of junior technicians and new team members.
- Responsible for maintaining all required company and regulatory training requirements.
Qualifications:
What You Bring to the Table: Education & Certification Requirements
We’re looking for someone who has a unique mix of experience, skills, and passion for what we do:
- Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant license required.
- Valid Driver’s License required
- 4+ years combined experience in inspection, maintenance or servicing of corporate type aircraft
- 2+ years Phenom 300 and Challenger 350 aircraft experience
- Advanced knowledge of inspection and maintenance procedures for the noted aircraft models and systems.
- Previous hands-on Mobile AOG experience supporting aircraft in the field through troubleshooting, repairs, and aircraft recovery efforts.
- Experience utilizing aviation maintenance tracking systems such as Corridor, CAMP, Traxxall, Flightdocs, Quantum Control, Ramco, or similar platforms.
The Extras We Value (Preferred Requirements)
While not mandatory, here are some additional things that would make you stand out:
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.
- FCC license, preferred.
- Formal training (FlightSafety Maintenance Initial or equivalent) in the Phenom 300 and/or Challenger 300/350 preferred.
- Additional experience supporting current and legacy Wheels Up aircraft platforms, including King Air, Citation, Hawker, Beechjet, and Gulfstream aircraft, is highly valued and may help distinguish candidates who bring broader fleet knowledge, technical versatility, and experience beyond the minimum requirements of the role.
- Experience performing maintenance within a Part 135 operation.
- Previous experience serving as a Lead Technician, Crew Chief, Maintenance Lead, or technical mentor.
- Experience working directly with OEM technical support teams, vendors, maintenance control, and flight operations teams to coordinate and expedite maintenance events.
- Military aviation maintenance experience or factory/OEM training on Bombardier, Embraer, Gulfstream, Textron, or Beechcraft aircraft.
- Extensive hands-on troubleshooting experience across multiple aircraft systems, including avionics, electrical, hydraulics, powerplant, structures, environmental, and flight control systems.
- Demonstrated ability to travel extensively and effectively support aircraft maintenance events with minimal supervision in a mobile field environment.

- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds routinely
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, and twist for extended periods
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and aircraft structures, including wings and maintenance stands
- Ability to work in confined spaces, including fuselage compartments and under aircraft
- Ability to use hands and arms continuously for handling tools, parts, and equipment with precision
- Ability to work overhead and at varying heights
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and digital displays
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-noise environments (with hearing protection as required)
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain)
- Ability to travel on short notice and work extended or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to meet vision requirements, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision

At Wheels Up, we believe in fair and competitive compensation based on experience, technical qualifications, certifications, and directly applicable aircraft maintenance expertise. The pay for this role starts at $50.00 per hour. Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors, and your placement within the pay structure will be based on the experience, qualifications, certifications, training, and fleet-specific expertise you bring to the table.
Because this position requires a minimum of two years of hands-on maintenance experience supporting Challenger 300/350 and Phenom 300 aircraft, the starting rate reflects the specialized qualifications required for consideration. Candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and/or possess additional experience, certifications, training, or expertise outlined in the "Preferred Requirements" section may stand out as particularly competitive candidates during the evaluation and selection process.
