Make the road your workshop in Greater Syracuse

Picture this: sunrise over the Greater Syracuse area, a fresh work order from your Service Manager on your company laptop, and a fully outfitted Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) utility truck at your disposal—welder, 4-ton crane, computer, and phone on board. You pull up to a job site to bring a bucket truck, digger derrick, truck-mounted crane, or high-rail unit back to peak performance. That’s a typical day for our Mobile Utility Equipment Service Mechanic.

What you’ll tackle out in the field

  • Diagnose and repair complex systems on chassis and track-mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high-rail, and other utility equipment—hydraulic, electrical wiring, and diesel powertrains included.
  • Use OEM manuals, repair instructions, and digital diagnostics (laptop-based) to perform accurate troubleshooting, including LMI (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus systems.
  • Complete inspections, road tests, and documentation—repair orders, timecards, and parts/labor records—with precision and timeliness.
  • Tag warranty and core components, communicate clearly with customers and internal teams, and flag additional or unnecessary work promptly.
  • Travel overnight when needed and flex beyond your normal coverage area to support customers.
  • Follow CTOS safety practices, participate in CTOS and factory training, and comply with environmental regulations for hazardous waste handling.
