    Job Description

    Overview:

    We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mobility Technician to diagnose, install, maintain, and repair wheelchair-accessible vehicles and adaptive driving equipment. This includes servicing lifts, ramps, hand controls, transfer seats, power kneel systems, and secondary battery systems. The technician must ensure all modifications meet ADA compliance, manufacturer specifications, and customer safety standards.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Install and repair mobility equipment including BraunAbility, VantageMobility, and other major brands
    • Perform diagnostics and preventive maintenance on wheelchair lifts, interlocks, and electrical systems
    • Wire and test auxiliary battery setups, relays, and inverter systems
    • Ensure ADA and NHTSA compliance on every install
    • Use schematics, service manuals, and OEM documentation for accurate repairs
    • Document all work performed using shop software or ROs
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area and keep up with required certifications
    • Assist with inspections and state compliance as needed
    • Occasionally assist with road tests and delivery of finished vehicles

    Required Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of mechanical or electrical experience (automotive, RV, or upfitting preferred)
    • Strong understanding of 12V wiring and basic fabrication
    • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a variety of positions
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
    • Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with BraunAbility, Ricon, or VMI products
    • ASE certifications or Braun/VMI/Ricon training a plus
    • DOT inspection experience a bonus
    • Welding and metal fabrication skills

    Certification Bonus:

    • We will pay for all BraunAbility, VMI, NMEDA, and SureGrip training
    • We will pay for the technician to take the ASE A6 test (must pass to be reimbursed)

    Working Condition:

    • Shop has heat and A/C
    • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling and laying to repair vehicles.
    • Must be able to to stand for extended periods of time.
