As aMOBILIZATION PLANS SPECIALIST ,GS -0301-11, you will:

  • Analyzes the war plan missions assigned to the states units.
  • Determines the need to develop a specific mobilization plan, special report or to conduct a study.
  • Analyzes force structure changes for impact on the state and unit mobilization plans.
  • Develops, participates, and provides guidance in planning, publicizing, and administering ANG enlisted awards, recognition and promotion programs.
  • Analyzes United States Forces Command (FORSCOM) Mobilization and Deployment Planning System (FORMDEPS) directives.
  • Develops, analyzes, and updates mobilization plans and projects from conception to completion.
  • Provides mobilization planning assistance to the state staff and subordinate HQs staff and units.
  • Acts as the mobilization POC for the Reserve Component Automation System (RCAS), coordinates staff studies and actions.
  • Makes recommendations to the MRO on the planning, programming and execution of mobilization exercise funds.
  • Prepares and conducts instructions on mobilization preparedness and planning as required.
  • Coordinates meetings and conferences with various units on mobilization plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations
  • Supervisory, staff or technical work, applying practices and procedures
  • Study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies
  • Preparing written communications and oral presentations

Education

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelors degree, in anaccredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.

Completion of courses such as the Officer Advanced Course, Squadron Officer School,Command and Staff College, Air and Army War College, National Security ManagementCourse and others of comparable level will be credited at the rate of 1 month ofeducation for two months of specialized experience.

The Army, as one of the three military departments (Army, Navy and Air Force) reporting to the Department of Defense, is composed of two distinct and equally important components: the active component and the reserve components. The reserve components are the United States Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

Regardless of component, the Army conducts both operational and institutional missions. The operational Army consists of numbered armies, corps, divisions, brigades, and battalions that conduct full spectrum operations around the world. The institutional Army supports the operational Army. Institutional organizations provide the infrastructure necessary to raise, train, equip, deploy, and ensure the readiness of all Army forces. The training base provides military skills and professional education to every Soldier—as well as members of sister services and allied forces. It also allows the Army to expand rapidly in time of war. The industrial base provides world-class equipment and logistics for the Army.
