Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the creation of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts in SysML that translate conceptual architectures and analytical results into structured, interoperable system models. These models will support early-phase force design, architecture evaluation, and integration with external tools and analytical environments. This position is ideal for a systems engineer who can operate in ambiguous, concept-driven environments, and who excels at turning evolving ideas into coherent, defensible system models that inform decision-making.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain MBSE artifacts using SysML to represent candidate space architectures
Translate conceptual system designs, trade study outputs, and mission scenarios into structured system models
Create and manage core SysML artifacts, including:
Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs)
Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs)
Activity and sequence diagrams
Requirements diagrams with traceability
Ensure models are structured to interface with external systems, analytical tools, and data environments, enabling integration across the broader analysis ecosystem
Collaborate with trade space analysts, data scientists, and modeling & simulation teams to ensure alignment between analytical outputs and system representations
Support development of system architectures, interfaces, and requirements for notional and emerging space capabilities
Apply architecture frameworks (e.g., DoDAF, UAF) to ensure models are aligned with stakeholder expectations
Maintain model integrity, consistency, and version control as architectures evolve
Contribute to technical reports, briefings, and stakeholder engagements by translating model outputs into clear, decision-relevant insights
Provide guidance on MBSE best practices and mentor team members on model-based approaches
