    Model Maker I

    Pay Range: $21.00 – $25.00 per hour

    Prescreen and Tool List Required for All Submittals


    Minimum Requirements

    • Must provide own tools and toolbox
    • Must be proficient with general shop equipment (band saw, table saw, clamps, etc.)
    • Must be able to laminate (fiberglass lay-up) and trim parts


    Position Overview

    The Model Maker I works with composite and 3D-printed materials to support the fabrication of models, tooling, and assemblies. This role maintains a clean and organized work environment and collaborates with team members on project execution and customer deliverables. The Model Maker I receives mentorship and technical guidance while developing hands-on fabrication skills.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Surface parts and fit components for assembly
    • Develop and fabricate composite tooling and molds
    • Create foam plank build-ups
    • Perform lamination using epoxy resins and carbon fiber composites
    • Participate in vacuum forming processes
    • Operate shop equipment and hand tools; perform basic preventive maintenance
    • Maintain daily shop organization and cleanliness


    Required Education & Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of 2 years of related experience


    Preferred Education & Experience

    • Certificate in Autobody, Automotive Technology, or related field
    • Valid driver’s license


    Required Skills & Abilities

    • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate shop equipment
    • Familiarity with common shop tools (band saw, table saw, clamps, etc.)
    • Experience with fiberglass lay-up and trimming
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
    • Ability to read, understand, and execute written and verbal instructions
    • Must supply own tools and toolbox


    Preferred Skills

    • Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends, as needed
