PGS Worldwide is seeking a Model Maker in Orlando, Florida for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This onsite position supports the fabrication of high-quality models and prototypes using a range of materials, tools, and finishing techniques. The role requires strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced prototype environment.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical associate degree, or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks with 3+ years of experience
  • 3+ years of experience with painting, filling, and fairing techniques
  • 3+ years of experience assembling complex models and prototypes
  • 3+ years of experience operating and maintaining woodworking equipment, including table saws, miter saws, and sanders
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking principles, including cutting, shaping, and joining
  • Experience with fabrication techniques including machining, welding, and bonding
  • Experience with molding and casting techniques, including mold making and casting materials
  • Experience working with 3D models
  • Experience using vacuum forming equipment and techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD drawings
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 35 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with power tools, machinery, and hazardous materials
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, earplugs, and dust mask
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Safety shoes required

What You’ll Do

  • Paint and finish models and prototypes using spraying, brushing, and hand-painting techniques
  • Fill and fair surfaces to achieve smooth, even finishes
  • Assemble complex models and prototypes using wood, metal, plastics, and composites
  • Operate woodworking equipment to cut, shape, and finish components
  • Create accurate models and prototypes from designs, plans, and specifications
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD drawings to support fabrication
  • Fabricate components using machining, welding, and bonding techniques
  • Create molds and castings using materials such as silicone, urethane, and epoxy
  • Use vacuum forming equipment to create complex thermoplastic shapes and forms
