Our client, a leading global financial institution, is seeking an experienced Model Risk Governance Manager to support its Model Risk Management (MRM) function.
This position will play an important role in maintaining and enhancing the organization's Model Risk Management framework, overseeing model inventories, coordinating validation activities, monitoring outstanding issues, and preparing governance reporting for senior management.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of model risk management practices within banking or financial services, combined with excellent analytical, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
Support the ongoing development, maintenance, and enhancement of the organization's Model Risk Management framework.
Maintain and update the U.S. Combined Operations (CUSO) model inventory, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and appropriate documentation.
Coordinate new model registrations, model updates, inventory reviews, and data quality controls.
Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of model governance policies, procedures, and controls.
Coordinate model validation planning, including scheduling, tracking progress, and following up on outstanding validation activities.
Monitor model risk findings, exceptions, and remediation activities to ensure timely resolution.
Prepare Model Risk Management dashboards, metrics, presentations, and reporting packages for senior management and governance committees.
Support reporting activities for the CUSO Model Risk Management Committee (MRMC).
Work closely with Model Validation, Model Development, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Counterparty Risk, Front Office, and other business functions.
Support improvements to model governance tools, databases, workflows, and reporting processes.
Provide guidance and technical support to model validators and other users of the MRM platform.
Assist with model risk training initiatives and communication of governance requirements.
Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Model Risk Management, Model Governance, Model Validation, Model Development, Quantitative Risk, or Quantitative Audit.
Experience working within banking, investment banking, capital markets, or another regulated financial services environment.
Strong understanding of model governance frameworks, model lifecycle management, validation requirements, and risk controls.
Experience maintaining model inventories, tracking validations, monitoring findings, or supporting model governance reporting.
Familiarity with financial risk models used in one or more of the following areas:
Market Risk: Value at Risk (VaR), Incremental Risk Charge (IRC).
Counterparty Credit Risk: Effective Expected Positive Exposure (EEPE), Internal Models Method (IMM).
Credit Risk: Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), Exposure at Default (EAD).
Front Office: Equity Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, and related pricing or valuation models.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior management.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced banking environment.
Advanced Microsoft Excel.
Power BI and dashboard reporting.
Experience working with model inventory or model governance platforms.
Strong data analysis, reporting, and presentation skills.
Familiarity with process improvement, workflow automation, and AI-related tools is a plus.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience within a bank's Model Risk Management or Model Governance function.
They understand the model validation lifecycle, have experience maintaining model inventories and tracking validation findings, and are comfortable preparing management reporting and coordinating with quantitative risk professionals.
Candidates with experience in Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, Credit Risk, or Front Office model governance are particularly attractive.
