Position Description: The Model Teacher is responsible for leading classroom instruction in their assigned grade level and/or content area. In addition to their regular teaching responsibilities, the Model Teacher takes on additional teacher leadership roles including but not limited to facilitating PLCs and leading grade level/content area teams, mentoring/developing apprentice teachers, leading professional development, and serving on school improvement committees.
Position Responsibilities:
Meets all expectations of a teacher for your grade/subject (Year 1 and ongoing)
Model and co-teach lessons, visit classrooms, view instruction, and engage in reflective discussion with classroom teachers (Year 2 and beyond)
Regularly share your instructional practice through peer observations and video recording of your teaching (Year 3 and beyond)
Provide non-evaluative collegial support and mentorship (Year 3)
Lead Professional Learning Community meetings, including collaborative planning, looking at student work, and analyzing data (Year 2 and beyond)
Support curriculum review and adaptation process as needed
Provide additional high-quality resources and materials to teachers
Engage in ongoing professional development, both within and outside of the organization, and share research-based practices to share with all staff
Participate and/or lead in after-school and summer professional learning as needed
Other duties may be assigned by the building principal

Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in the classroom
Must hold a valid teaching certification with appropriate Math endorsement(s), 6-12 Math or K-8 Math Subject Certificate
Proven track record of impact on scholar learning (i.e., NWEA or iReady growth report)
