In this role, you will be responsible for designing and testing custom algorithm solutions as well as developing and validating complex models and simulations. Successful candidates will bring a systems engineering approach to understanding physics phenomenology and creating our in-house algorithms and performance models. You will collaborate with a highly skilled team of engineers, physicists, and experts to implement those algorithms into a system or product. The candidate should have proficiency in software languages such as MATLAB and Python and familiarity with software development in C/C++. A successful candidate will also have strong technical writing and communication skills.

This position will be full-time, on-site at our Rolling Meadows, IL location.

This position may be contingent upon funding/contract award, special access program, and acquiring and maintaining the necessary US Government security clearance per customers'' requirements prior to start.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a STEM field with 2+ years of related experience, or MS degree or PhD in STEM field with 0 years of related experience
  • Experience in designing, documenting, testing, and validating algorithms, software or models for production systems.
  • Experience in creating and delivering technical presentations
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Secret Clearance with additional customer specified clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following specialty areas of targeting and EOIR/RF systems: sensors/antennas, transmitters/receivers, optics, image processing, and tracking
  • Strong physics and mathematics background (optics, linear algebra, radiometry, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience working complex problems that include multiple layers of the technology stack, including hardware, software, firmware, and simulations.
  • Experience in completing technical work in a team setting under cost and schedule constraints
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing (DFT, image processing, band-pass filtering, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning and object tracking technologies.
  • Proficiency in modern software development practices, including: Test Driven Development, CI/CD, Object Oriented Programming, Automation, and Configuration Management Tools (Git).
  • Experience with CUDA and parallel programming concepts
  • Experience supporting requirements development and/or system integration tests
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate''s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
