Teacher Responsibilities
The teacher is responsible for strengths and weaknesses of each student as outlined in the IEP. The teacher must assist the student in developing a wide range of coping skills needed to meet daily demands related to daily life needs.
Classroom Management
Maintain classroom discipline and management. Monitor students at lunch, recess, arrival, and departure time, etc.
Social Behavior Development
Provide opportunities which result in growth of positive social behavior. Guide the development of the students economic usefulness related to his/her home work and community setting.
Collaboration with Other Staff
Work with other instructional staff, including classroom assistants, families, and agencies in formulating an appropriate educational program for the student.
Prevocational and Work Transition Experiences
Design and implement prevocational and work transition experiences for students.
Expanding Role of the Madison Area Educational Special Services Unit
The Madison Area Educational Special Services Unit views this as an expanding role. Unit needs situations and personnel changes may result in revision of these duties.
